The weather is starting to get warmer and soon it will be time for cute dresses and shorts and that means shaving more. I've probably been shaving my legs since middle school. That's a long time! 

While shaving is a relatively easy way to get rid of body hair, it also has its drawbacks. I have sensitive skin and often I get irritation and ingrown hairs from shaving. Plus the results don't last very long. If I shave in the morning, I'm usually dealing with stubble by the evening.

I've tried other methods of hair removal, including waxing and sugaring, but they can be messy and I usually go back to shaving. A couple years ago, I even had my underarms lasered at my dermatologist's office. While I was pretty happy with the results, the process was painful and expensive. I paid about $900 for six sessions. It got most of the hair but there are still a few random ones that have stuck around.

What Is The Silk'n Infinity?

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Silk'n Infinity hair removal device, thanks to Tryazon. The Infinity is an at-home hair removal device that uses HPL (home pulsed light) technology to permanently remove unwanted hair. It retails for $399.00.

How Does The Infinity Work?

It combines galvanic and optical energies to remove hair. Galvanic energy opens the skin's pores and allows the optical energy to go deeper into the hair follicle. The optical energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair so it won't grow back.

How Do You Use The Infinity?

The Infinity can be used on almost any part of the body. It is recommended to avoid areas above the cheekbones and on tanned skin.

Before treatment, the skin should be shaved, clean, dry and free of any powders, antiperspirants or deodorants. Cover any tattoos, moles, freckles or any other pigmented marks on the skin. Press the control button to turn the device on and press it again to select the preferred energy level. Place the device on the skin and press the pulse button to deliver one pulse, making sure your hand touches the base electrode together with the pulse button. You can treat by pulsing or gliding the device to deliver a continuous pulse.

Party Recap and Review

Unfortunately, we were not able to hold an in-person party due to COVID. So, I had to do it online with ZOOM. We still had a good time though. I started out by introducing Tryazon and the Silk'n Infinity device. I did a quick demonstration on my arm to show how easy it was to use the Infinity.

While the device claims to be virtually painless, for me it felt warm when the pulse was delivered. There were a few times when it felt like a rubber band was snapped against my skin. That didn't happen all the time, but it happened enough to make me a little anxious when I do use the device.

It's recommended to space out your treatments by two weeks. The company says it takes between 8 and 10 bi-weekly treatments to see results. I've only had the device for a little over a month and because of my anxiety using it, I've only used it a few times on various areas on my legs. After one treatment, I did see some spots where the hair did not grow back. I'm hopeful that with more use, I can see more results. I plan to continue using the device and I'll update this post in a month or two to add my results.
