Old Navy Bundle Up Bash Party - Winter 2011 Line Review

Saturday, December 17, 2011

DISCLOSURE:  I recently had another sampling opportunity provided by Crowdtap.com and Old Navy.  This was an in-store opportunity to try on items from Old Navy's winter collection.  Three of my friends and I were given a coupon for a free women's sweater, free women's pants and a free winter accessory -- a hat, scarf or gloves.  All opinions are my own.

Since it's close to Christmas time, we had a hard time coordinating our schedules to come up with a time to meet up at Old Navy.   Once we did come up with a time and date, it turned out the coupons didn't arrive on time!  So we had to cancel and reschedule.  I ended up going with a completely different group than I had originally planned, but we still had a great time.

I ended up taking one of my sisters, my Mom and a friend from work.  We met up on a Monday morning, about an hour after the mall opened.  It wasn't too crowded yet, but there already was a huge line outside the store for pictures with Santa.  Once we got inside, we were greeted by one of the managers.  I showed her the letter from Crowdtap, informing them of what we were doing and asking them to allow us to take pictures and video.  She looked confused as she read the letter, but said okay and to ask her if we needed help with anything.

Old Navy's Activewear Review - Fall 2011 Line

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

DISCLOSURE:  I was given a coupon by Old Navy and Crowdtap to try out a top and compression pants from Old Navy's new Activewear line.  All opinions are my own,

Old Navy has come out with a new line of compression activewear.  They feature fabrics that wick moisture and provide support.  Other features include thumb loops in the cuffs to keep your hands warm and zippered pockets.

I went to our local Old Navy with my sister and my 4 year old and 1 year old.  My sister also had a coupon for a free top and compression pants.  They had a large selection of items to choose from.  We probably spent a good 20 minutes just browsing around looking for things to try on.

Old Navy Women's Embellished Jersey Tanks Review - Summer 2011

Monday, July 25, 2011

DISCLOSURE:  I was given a coupon from Crowdtap.com and Old Navy for a free Women's Embellished Jersey Tank Top.  All opinions are my own.

The Embellished Jersey Tank Tops are from the Summer 2011 line.  There are six different styles available and a number of different colors with fun names like "Plummy Mummy" and "Hint of Lemon."  They are all made of 100% Jersey Cotton and feature a polyester chiffon embellishment.

I was given the opportunity to go to Old Navy with three friends to try on the tank tops and receive one tank top for free.  They were all very soft and comfortable to wear.  We all found though the shoulder straps on the tank tops to be very long and thus making the scoop neck very low cut.  One of my sisters is planning on altering the straps so that they're a little shorter.  I'm planning on layering mine on top of another tank top.

Overall, the tank tops did look better on the website than they did in person.  I probably would not have paid the full retail price for one of the tanks.  But I would buy one on sale!

Would you recommend it?
They're okay... They all seemed to run big and were very low cut.  I've worn my tank only a couple of times.  I did end up going back later when they went on clearance to pick up some of the other styles that I would have liked better.

How much does it cost?   They currently sell for $19.94 on Old Navy's website.  Prices in store may vary.

Where can I buy it?  In Old Navy stores and oldnavy.com.

Hormel Compleats Kids Review

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

DISCLOSURE: I received free samples of Hormel Compleats Kids meals to review and try from Hormel and SheSpeaks.com.  All opinions are my own.

My kids don't normally eat microwave or packaged meals.  But honestly, these work great when you have no time to be cooking in the kitchen!

I've been sick with either a cold or bronchitis or allergies now for over a month and a half!  There were a few days where I just could not drag myself out of bed.  And with a 6-year-old, 4-year-old and a 7-month-old, that is not acceptable!

On one of those days a couple weeks ago, I decided to try one of these Hormel Compleats Kids meals to see if the kids would like it.  I let them each choose which one they wanted to eat.  My daughter chose the ravioli and my son chose the spaghetti and meatballs.  It only took 45 seconds to cook each meal in the microwave and the kids ate it all.  Normally, they might leave a few bites left on their plates.  But this time they ate their whole meal.  I served it with some fresh fruit too.

Overall, these work well for when you're short on time and need to make something for the kids fast.  But I wouldn't want to serve these for every meal, every day.

Would you recommend it?
It depends.  I wouldn't serve this all the time.  I tend to avoid serving processed foods.  But if I'm in a pinch and need something quick, then this works!

How much does it cost?  I can't find an exact price.  I think they're roughly around $1.50 each, depending on where you shop.

Where can I buy it?  At your local grocery store, drug store and mass merchandisers.

Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Shampoo Review

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

DISCLOSURE:  I received a sample of Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo to try.  I actually received the sample months ago but was hesitant to try it since I'm allergic to almonds and shea nuts!  But my hair had gotten so dry and unmanageable since having my baby last year, I wanted to try something new.  All opinions are my own.

I have very thick hair with a slight wave.  It's not wavy enough to be a pretty wave and it's not straight enough to be straight.

The shampoo claims to moisturize your hair as well as Aveda Dry Remedy Shampoo.  Unfortunately, I cannot comment on that claim since I've never tried the Aveda product.

I can say the product really does help make your hair better.  After just one use of the sample, my hair felt softer and less frizzy.  It smells nice and lathers well.  I actually got sad when my tiny sample ran out.  I went ahead and bought a bottle of this shampoo and the corresponding conditioner.

Would you recommend it?
Absolutely!  It's an inexpensive alternative to an expensive salon brand and it works!  It leaves my hair soft and less frizzy.

How much does it cost?  A 14.5 oz bottle costs roughly about $2.  Very affordable!

Where can I buy it?  Drug stores, mass merchandisers, grocery stores and online retailers should all carry this product.

Keurig B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System Review

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

DISCLOSURE:  I'll start out by disclosing that I do not work for Keurig and do not have any associations with the company.  I did though receive a free Keurig B70 to use and review.  All opinions are my own.

Now that that's out of the way.  I have to say I love having a Keurig!  And that's not because I didn't have to pay for it.  I actually wanted one of these for Christmas.  But alas, it was a little too expensive of a gift.

It's really simple to use.  You fill up the water reservoir with filtered or bottled water.  The machine heats the water.  You put in a little K cup of your favorite coffee, tea or hot cocoa.  Select the size of cup that you'll be using.  And then press Brew and you're done!

It's been a great way to try different kinds of coffee.  I bought four variety packs to start out with.  So far I haven't been disappointed.  The Keurig works great for those times when you don't feel like brewing an entire pot of coffee.  There have been numerous occasions when my husband would want some coffee and I'll say I'll have some too.  But by the time I'm ready for that cup, the machine had already turned off and the coffee was cold.  Other times, it's only one of us who wants coffee.  The Keurig is perfect for that!

Does it replace a regular coffeemaker?  No.  Sometimes it's nice to have just a big pot of coffee.  Like on Sunday mornings, as you're reading the paper and having breakfast.  But it's a great addition to have in the kitchen.

 Would you recommend it?
Yes!  Having a perfectly brewed cup of coffee from this Keurig is how I start each day!  It just doesn't seem right if I don't have coffee from it.  It's super easy to use and maintain.  Great investment!

How much does it cost?  List price for the Keurig B70 is $229.99.  I've seen it was low as $133.99 during special sales promotions and usually around $179.99.

Where can I buy it?  It's available at most department stores and mass merchandisers.  Amazon.com has it for $169.

Purpose

Thursday, April 7, 2011

So what's this blog all about?  Products.  Some good, some not so good.  I try so many cool things and I wanted to let others know about them.  Sure, I could post reviews on other websites like Amazon or Viewpoints, but I think this will be more fun.
