COVERGIRL Outlast Double LipShine Review

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

DISCLOSURE:  I received a free product from SheSpeaks.com to try and review.  All opinions are my own.

I love makeup and getting the chance to try different ones!  Recently, I was sent a box of some of the top-rated P&G products out there.  One of the items in my box was the COVERGIRL Outlast Double LipShine lipgloss.  I've never used it before or really noticed in the stores, so I was pretty excited to give it a try!

The lipgloss is dual-sided.  One side features a sheer, shimmery color and the other side features a clear, liquid gloss.  It comes in 20 shades.  The color is supposed to last up to 10 hours and is resilient to food oils and water.

The first thing I noticed was the lipgloss didn't have much outside packaging.  It was just wrapped it in clear plastic.  But, boy, was that hard to remove!  I was sitting there, struggling with my scissors, trying to get it opened.

Once, it was opened, I took a picture of me before putting the gloss on:

The lipgloss has two steps to help you achieve long-wearing, shimmering shine:

1.  Apply the mica-infused color to your lips, working from the inside out.

2.  Finish with the Outlast High-Shine Gloss.

Here I am, after applying the lip gloss:

The Sheerly Nude was pretty much the exact same shade as my regular lip color.  So, there really wasn't too much of a difference between before and after applying the lipgloss.  My lips were maybe just shinier.  The gloss wasn't very moisturizing, though I didn't really reapply throughout the day.  Maybe if I had reapplied the clear gloss throughout the day, my lips would have felt less dry.  In terms of the color lasting up to 10 hours, not so for me.  By lunch time, the color was gone.

Would you recommend it?  Maybe?  I like the color and the fact that it's sheer and shimmery.  My daughter even liked it and I might buy another one for her.  It just wasn't as moisturizing as I would have liked.  And while it didn't last as long as it claimed it would, I'll continue to use the one that I got.  If it ever goes on sale or if I have a coupon, I might buy another shade.

How much does it cost?  The COVERGIRL Outlast Double LipShine has a suggested retail price of about $10, but can be found online and in stores for around $8.

Where can I buy it?  You can find it at all major drug stores, mass merchandisers, grocery stores and online retailers.
