Old Navy Summer Shorts Review - Summer 2012 Line

Monday, May 7, 2012

DISCLOSURE:  I recently had another sampling opportunity provided by Crowdtap.com and Old Navy.  This was an in-store opportunity to try on items from Old Navy's summer shorts collection.  A friend and I were given a coupon for a free pair of shorts.  All opinions are my own.

I was so excited to be picked again for another sample and share opportunity from Crowdtap and Old Navy!  This time it was for a pair of shorts for myself and a friend.  I chose one of my sisters to come with me since she missed out on the last two sample and shares that I had.  This couldn't have come at a better time.  The family and I are supposed to be going with my in-laws to the Outer Banks at the end of the month.  We usually rent a house near the beach for a week.  I needed some new clothes so this was a perfect chance to go clothes shopping!

My sister lives over an hour away from me so she was only able to come on a Sunday afternoon.  She drove over and we took the obligatory picture of us with our coupons:

My sister had blocked my car in so yay she had to drive.  Granted, the mall is literally a 5 minute drive away.  Maybe less if you get all the lights, but it's still nice when someone else does the driving!

We parked and went into the mall.  We really didn't have a plan of attack or anything.  My sister didn't even look at the shorts online even though I sent her a link.  So she had no idea what kind of shorts she wanted.  I wanted some longer shorts, either some of the 5" inseam shorts or a pair of Bermuda shorts.  When we walked in, I collected my 50 kicks from my Shopkick app:

A manager greeted us as we walked in.  When we first walked in, I didn't see any shorts.  I saw a lot of cute dresses though and I might have to go back another day to get a better look at them.  There were a bunch of tanks and cardigans but no shorts in the front.  As we made our way toward the back of the store, we found a big table with all sorts of shorts on it.  Here's a picture of my sister checking them out:

We went around the store a bunch of times, gathering things to try on.  It took me a LONG time to find things I wanted to try on.  I didn't really see a lot of the shorts and tops that I had seen online.  Or if I did find it, they didn't have my size.  I'm a size 0 and for some reason, my store always runs out of the smaller sizes first.

Because it was a Sunday, the store was kind of crowded and we only made it to the dressing rooms once.  Here are some of the outfits we tried on:

Here I'm wearing:

My sister has on:
I really liked the shirt I was wearing and held onto it till about 5 minutes before I checked out.  My sister convinced to get a different top.  The Bermuda shorts were a size too big and I didn't really care for them.  I already had a pair like them at home and my sister didn't like them on me.  My sister liked the shorts she had on but didn't care for the top.

 In this picture I'm wearing:
My sister is wearing:
I didn't like this top or the shorts.  I thought I looked like a little girl in this outfit.  My sister LOVED this top but it wasn't on sale and she didn't really feel like spending $25 on it.  The shorts are what she ended up getting with her coupon.  She also liked the Espadrille Flats she has on.  They were in the clearance aisle but still were about $12 or $15, so she didn't get them.

Here's a picture of my sister wearing the top she convinced me to get.  We both actually bought it!  It's a ruffled henley that isn't on the website anymore so I can't link it.  But it was on super clearance!  We bought one each for $2.61!  It's super comfortable and I'm actually wearing it right now as I'm typing!

To the left is basically the outfit my sister ended up getting.  She got the Cuffed Linen-Blend Shorts with her coupon and paid out of pocket for the top.

I ended up getting the same shirt, another shirt that I couldn't find on the website either and the Linen-Blend Tie-Belt Shorts.

I probably could have bought more but had to head back home to take my daughter to her First Communion rehearsal. I'm thinking of going back in to the store tomorrow when it won't be as busy and trying some other ones on.

Here's a picture of my sister and me in the outfits we ended up getting.  We're twins!  My boys wanted to be in the picture too.  Notice I'm also wearing a pair of Old Navy's Pop Kicks.  They were on sale this past weekend and I couldn't resist picking up a pair.  They're super comfortable!

Would you recommend it?
Yes!  Old Navy has a great collection of shorts in lengths ranging from 3" to 12".   They have a wide selection of styles and sizes.  There's something suitable for everyone!

How much does it cost?  Regular prices for shorts range from $19.94 to $26.94.  Select styles were already in the clearance section when I went in for my sample and share.

Where can I buy it?  In Old Navy stores and oldnavy.com.
