Palmolive Fresh Sponge Review

Monday, April 16, 2012

DISCLOSURE:  I was selected by Influenster.com to receive a free bottle of Palmolive Fresh Sponge to try and review.  All opinions are my own.

So, I'm pretty excited to be chosen again to review a new product by Influenster.com!  This time, they sent a dishwashing kit that included a full size bottle of Ultra Palmolive Fresh Sponge Dishwashing Liquid, a new sponge and several coupons to use and share with friends and family.  I had read on Influenster's Facebook page that other members had received their bottle but that it had spilled in the box during transit, so I was worried when I saw the "Resealed by USPS" tape on the box.  But yay, everything came intact with no issues.

So, what is Ultra Palmolive Fresh Sponge?  It's the newest in Palmolive's line of dishwashing liquids.  It has a dual action formula designed to:
  • Wash away odor-causing residue from sponges
  • Clean dishes to a sparkling shine
I've only had the chance to use the dishwashing liquid for a few days.  We usually pre-wash our dishes before we load them into the dishwasher.  We keep one sponge in the sink for the dishes we're going to be loading into the dishwasher.  We keep another sponge next to the sink for dishes we hand-wash.  While, I've never really smelled my sponge after using it for awhile, it would be nice to have something that freshens and cleans the sponge as I use it.  Ultra Palmolive Fresh Sponge smells great!  And I like how good it makes the sponge and my dishes smell.  I'm going to try and use it for a few more days before I make any recommendations.

Would you recommend it?
Right now, I'll say yes.  It cleans well, it smells good and it's concentrated, so you don't need a lot to wash a lot of dishes.
Update (5/24/12):  I'm still using the original bottle for washing my dishes.  The only problem is the bottle has a tendency to get sticky and covered in soap.  I don't think I'm pouring it wrong, but the dish soap always ends up going down the sides of the bottle and a ring of soap forms around the base of the bottle.  I've moved on to a different sponge because the other one got nasty.  It smelled fine but looked gross.

How much does it cost?
The suggested retail price is $3.29 for a 25 oz. bottle.

Where can I buy it?
You can find it at all major drug stores, mass merchandisers, grocery stores and online retailers.
