As in years past, I like to reflect on the previous year and set some goals on things that I want to accomplish for the new year.
I started the year off with the intention of traveling more and trying to visit as many national parks as we could. In the beginning of the year, we did pretty well and took advantage of the Free Admission Days at the national parks. But things slowed down after Spring Break and we didn't do much travel once the summer was over. Luckily, we did get a chance to take our annual trip to the Outer Banks and Disney World.
One thing that hindered our travel was my change to full time employment in June. I went from working 2 days a week to 5 days a week. When I was part time, I had the ability to dictate what days I was free to work. Being full time, I have to make sure I log in at least 30 hours a week, which means working every single weekend.
Which leads me to my first goal. I spent the latter half of 2017 feeling sorry for myself because I missed out on all the fun the family was having on the weekends. Plus, I missed out on a lot of the things that were going on at school during the school week. This year, I am going to be more proactive about doing things with the family when I'm at home. In the past, I would use my days off to catch up on housework or blogging. This year, I'm planning to block off some time to just spend with the kids. I also plan to use some of my holiday time or PTO and take a day off to do something with the kids.
I also want to get back into crafting. Once I started full time work, I pretty much stopped doing any kind of crafts. I did receive a bunch of new knitting supplies this Christmas and even tackled fair isle knitting while I was waiting for midnight on New Year's Eve!
I'm hoping to do more knitting and crocheting this year.
I did get around to doing a blog rebranding and redesign. Unfortunately, I haven't been doing much crafting or traveling. I'm hoping that will chance this year, so the blog name will fit a little better.
Lastly, I just want to do a better job at strengthening and maintaining relationships with the important people in my life. And if possible, weed out any toxic people in my life --- including unfollowing any accounts on social media that make me feel bad about myself.
Do you have any goals you've set this year?
