Disney Frozen Fever Hairstyles: Inspired by Anna and Elsa - REVIEW

Saturday, August 22, 2015

DISCLOSURE: I received a free copy of Disney Frozen Fever Hairstyles to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

My youngest daughter loves dressing up like a princess. She likes to put on her princess dresses and she uses her older sister's headbands as crowns. Thankfully, she hasn't asked me to do her hair like a princess because I have enough problems trying to get my own hair to do what I want it to do. I wasn't sure how well I could copy the hairstyles of her favorite princesses!

Then this book showed up for me to review! The Disney Frozen Fever Hairstyles book features 28 hairdos inspired by Anna and Elsa from the movie short, Frozen Fever. It includes step-by-step instructions and photos to make it easy to style your hair like Anna and Elsa!

The book is divided into four sections:
  • Braidschool - this section includes detailed directions and illustrations on how to create traditional, French, Dutch, rope and fishtail braids
  • Twists and Braids - this section includes variations of Elsa's over-the-shoulder braid
  • Updos and Buns - this section includes looks inspired by Anna's braided updo
  • Waves and Ponytails - this section includes partial updos and ponytails

I was a little intimidated after flipping through the book. Some styles looked pretty complicated. I can't do any other braid, other than the traditional. Other styles were more suitable for those with long hair. My girls and I have shorter hair, so there weren't that many styles I could attempt.

Anna's French Twist

I decided to try "A Twist and a Ponytail." It didn't look too complicated and I thought it would work on my daughter's hair. I attempted it while she was watching TV, so she would sit still long enough for me to try the hairstyle.

A Twist and a Ponytail

It came out really cute. I think this is a style I'll continue to use on her for everyday. It helps keep the hair off her face and neck, especially, now that it's still so hot.

I'll have to attempt one of the harder styles another day, when I'm feeling more adventurous and when my daughter's hair grows a little longer!

Overall, it's a great book. I like how there are step-by-step illustrations. I'll need to practice how to do the other braids. I've always wanted to learn how to do a fishtail braid.

Disney Frozen Fever Hairstyles: Inspired by Anna and Elsa is available for purchase now in stores and online.

  1. I dont have a little girl to practice these cool braids on. My boys might have fun braiding my hair but it might hurt.
