RUSK Deepshine® Color Care Invisible Dry Shampoo Review

Sunday, July 21, 2013

DISCLOSURE: I received a free bottle of RUSK Deepshine® Color Care Invisible Dry Shampoo from StyleWatch Style Hunters to try and review.  All opinions are my own.

I hate my hair.  It's thick, coarse, and has a slight wave.  So, I usually end up washing it every morning and then blow drying and flat ironing it straight.  As I've gotten older, the grays have started coming in.  So, I've also started coloring my hair in the past year.  This has changed the texture of my hair, making it even dryer and harder to style.

I hardly ever go a day now without washing it.  My second day hair is pretty flat and oily if I straighten it.  If I leave it wavy, it's dry and frizzy and kind of crazy.  The idea of dry shampoo sounds appealing and like something I'd want to use, but of the several kinds of tried, they never seemed to work for me.  So, when I was given the chance to try another one, I was hopeful, but still skeptical.

I've never really used the RUSK brand of haircare products.  I might have used one of their styling products sometime in my life as I've used so many different kinds to try and control my hair.  But if I had used one, it probably didn't work.

The RUSK Deepshine® Color Care Invisible Dry Shampoo is supposed to leave hair clean and revived between shampoos by absorbing excess oil and odor, leaving a fresh, clean scent.  It's formulated with ChromAveil™, a patented UV protection technology that helps maintain chemically-colored and natural hair color longer.  All hair types can use it, including chemically-colored and natural hair.

I tried the dry shampoo the next day after I had straightened my hair.  I was busy with the baby and didn't have time to wash my hair and blow dry, so I figured I'd see if the dry shampoo would work okay.

The instructions say to shake the can and then spray the dry shampoo at your roots and lightly all over to absorb oil and odor.  After waiting one minute, you're supposed to work it through your hair.

I liked that it went on clear.  Other dry shampoos I've tried go on white and I really have to work it through to get rid of the whiteness.  I also like that it's talc-free.  Other dry shampoos feel so powdery.  The RUSK Deepshine Color Care Invisible Dry Shampoo is really light and smells nice, too.

Overall, it did a pretty good job at keeping my roots from getting too oily.  I probably should have used more, since by the evening, my hair was starting to feel oily.  The scent, though, lasted all day.

Would you recommend it?
Yes!  It does what a dry shampoo should do -- it does a good job at absorbing oil and makes your hair smell nice.

How much does it cost?  It's available in two sizes: 2 oz and 8 oz.  Prices will vary, check with your local salon.

Where can I buy it?    Available at professional salons and authorized dealers.  Use Rusk's Store Finder to find a location near you.
