My 2017 Walt Disney World Bucket List

My family and I will be visiting Walt Disney World in less than two weeks. Even though this will be my 13th visit, there are still a lot of things that I haven't had the chance to do at the parks. On this next trip, I'm hoping to cross off several things on my Walt Disney World Bucket List.

1. Surprise the kids

This will be the first year that the kids aren't involved in the planning of our Disney trip. Right now, three out of the four kids don't even know we're going. My oldest found out on her own. She has her own iPhone and was playing around with the My Disney Experience app and saw that we had hotel reservations and dining reservations. She's done a good job, though, at not spoiling the surprise. We plan to tell the kids as we're driving down. We're leaving from the Outer Banks and instead of driving home, we'll be driving towards Florida. I can't wait to see how they react! We plan to leave early from the beach to give us enough time to drive down and we plan to tell the kids we're leaving early because I have to work.

2.  Attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

We've attended Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party twice now, but have not had the chance to attend the Halloween Party. It sounds so fun to dress up and go trick or treating around Magic Kingdom! Plus, I've heard the Boo To You Parade and the HalloWishes fireworks are awesome!

This year the Halloween Parties start earlier with the first party date happening during our vacation week!  So I had to buy tickets!

As of today, even my oldest doesn't know we bought tickets to the Halloween Party. I've had to plan our costumes without their input. Since it's going to be pretty hot in August, we plan to mostly DisneyBound. I'll put up a post about our experience at the Halloween Party when we get back. Plus, if you follow my social media accounts, I'll be posting plenty of pictures and videos while we're at Disney World.

3. Pick A Pearl in Japan at Epcot

I've been wanting to do this the last two times we visited Disney World, but each time it was just too crowded and the kids were cranky. I think it would be fun to pick an oyster and see what kind of pearl it has inside. It would be cool if it was a colored pearl or if there were two pearls inside! I plan to have the pearl(s) set into a ring -- if I ever get a chance to do it!

4.  Get a solo picture with a character

I'm usually the photographer when we visit Disney World. If not for Memory Maker, I wouldn't be in any of the pictures! When we take pictures with characters, it's usually just the kids or the entire family. I would love to one day just get a picture of me alone with a character. Usually, I don't want to take up too much time when we're with the characters and sometimes the handlers seem to rush the character meet when there's a long wait. But, it would be awesome to one day just get one picture of me with any of my favorite characters -- like Winnie The Pooh or Belle or Baymax.

5.  Stay in one of the renovated rooms at Pop Century Resort.

Our past three resort stays were at Pop Century and Caribbean Beach Resorts. Rooms are currently being refurnished at Pop Century and I'm hoping we get assigned to one of the newer rooms this trip. Instead of two Double beds, the new rooms have two Queen beds, and one folds into the wall. There's also a coffeemaker, which most of the Value resorts don't have. The rooms look more modern and have laminate flooring, instead of carpet. If we do get one of the newer rooms, I'll put a post up about the changes in the rooms.

6.  Try The Night Blossom Drink in Pandora at Animal Kingdom.

Even though, I really didn't watch the Avatar movie, I think it'll be pretty cool to see the new Pandora section at Animal Kingdom. I've seen the Night Blossom Drink mentioned on a lot of the Disney blogs and all over Instagram. It's available at Pongu Pongu in Pandora and I definitely plan on trying it on our next trip!

7.  See The Kiss Goodnight.

I've never been at Magic Kingdom at closing. We usually leave during or after the fireworks. I would love to be one of the last few people to leave the park at night and watch The Kiss Goodnight. If I can get the family to last that long, I'm hoping we can catch it one night this trip. I may even just hang back by myself while the rest of the family goes back to the resort and take the bus back to the resort.

8.  Ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

I am really not into roller coasters at all. I've ridden them before and they scare me. But, ever since Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opened, I've wanted to get a chance to experience it just once. We all had Fastpasses for it on our last trip, but because we didn't think our younger two kids would like it, I ended up just hanging out with them at the Dumbo play area while the rest of the family rode. I don't have a Fastpass for it this trip, but I'm hoping to catch it sometime when the wait isn't crazy.

9.  See Rivers Of Light

It was pretty new during our last trip. But, I couldn't convince anyone in the family to stay at Animal Kingdom to watch it. I'm hoping we get a chance to see it this trip. Even if we're not actually seated and watching it and just catch a glimpse of it while at Flame Tree BBQ. (I heard this was possible. Let me know if it's not!)

10.  Catch an evening safari at Kilimanjaro Safaris.

I've ridden the Safari numerous times. But I haven't yet had a chance to see it when it's darker. I just want to see how things look with the artificial sunset and see how many animals are actually out at that hour.

11.  Get a picture of myself alone lying on Main Street at the end of the day.

To go along with being one of the last people at Magic Kingdom, it would be awesome to get a picture of myself alone on Main Street. I don't know if it's even possible, but I would love a picture like this:

She was a CM, so maybe that's why she was able to get that picture. But, it would be so awesome!

12.  Visit the Boardwalk area.

It would be fun to hang out in that area one afternoon or evening.  I'd love to visit Ample Hills and get ice cream and watch the entertainers.

There are definitely other things I haven't had a chance to do that I would love to do. I just don't see them happening on this trip. I'd love to eat around the world at Epcot and actually eat at all the table service restaurants in World Showcase. It would be awesome to stay in one of the Deluxe resorts one day! A solo trip would be pretty cool, too! And one of these days, I'm going to have to watch Hoop Dee Doo!
