DISCLOSURE: I received free samples of Airheads candy from Smiley360 to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

As hard as it is to believe, Christmas Eve is only ten days away! I've been sick the past week and a half, so I am way behind on everything! I've barely started my Christmas shopping and haven't even thought about my Christmas baking!

Today, I thought I'd do something simple. I've had this huge bag of S'mores sized marshmallows just sitting in my pantry. We had made little treat bags for Cub Scouts this past summer when my husband's pack was recruiting and we had bought too many marshmallows. I thought it would be good to have some homemade Rice Krispy Treats. I haven't made any in awhile.

Since it's almost Christmas, I thought I'd make the Rice Krispy Treats into Christmas shapes. I dug out my giant box of cookie cutters and pulled out some Christmas ones. I planned on doing a bunch of different shapes, but really only ended up cutting out ornament shapes.

It's pretty easy to make Rice Krispy Treats. You'll need:
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 17 Jet-Puffed S'moreMallows (or 1 10 oz package of regular size marshmallows)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
I melted the butter in the microwave for about 45 seconds and then added the marshmallows. It took about 90 seconds or so to melt all the marshmallows. Mix the melted marshmallows and butter together and then add the cereal.

Press the mixture into a greased pan. I then put the pan in the fridge to harden up a bit before cutting.

To make the Christmas ornaments (or any other Christmas shapes), take your cookie cutter and cut the shape out of the Rice Krispy Treats. To prevent sticking, lightly spray your cookie cutter with cooking spray.

To decorate your Christmas ornament, you can dip it in melted chocolate or cover the top with buttercream frosting. Today, I used Airheads candy to decorate. They come in all sorts of different flavors and colors. I used both regular Airheads and Airheads Xtremes.

Lay out three different strips of Airheads.

Place your cookie cutter on top to cut out strips of the Airheads candy.

Place the strips of Airheads candy on top of the cut-out Rice Krispy treat.

You can use any combination of Airheads candy to make all sorts of different designs!

I'd love to see your designs! Leave me a comment with your creations!
