For as long as I've been celebrating Thanksgiving, I don't think I've really sat down and thought about all the things that I'm thankful for. So, I thought this would make a great post!
TEN THINGS I'M THANKFUL FOR
#10 - A flexible career
I'm thankful that I've been able to work only part-time as an optometrist. I may not be getting rich by only working on the weekends, but it allows me to be home with my kids during the week. I love that my job is flexible and that I work only on the days that I tell them I'm available to work. They even allow me breaks to have the baby come to the office to nurse!
#9 - My flat iron
Ha ha, yes, don't laugh. But, I really am thankful for it. It has saved me from having frizzy, big hair. Naturally, my hair is wavy and thick. I can't ever let it air dry. It needs product. It needs heat styling. Or else it gets stuffed into a big fluffy ponytail. My flat iron gives me straight and less crazy hair.
#8 - My iPhone
I take my phone with me everywhere! I'm hardly ever away from my phone. I even sleep with my phone next to me on the nightstand. It's my alarm in the morning. It has all my contacts. It has a lot of my pictures and videos. I would honestly be lost without it.
#7 - Family vacations
I grew up going on vacations with my family multiple times over the course of the summer. And I'm thankful that I'm able to do the same with my own family. We visit the Outer Banks every year. We've visited Disney World together almost every year since 2009 (with another trip coming up in November!). My kids love road trips and they have such a wonderful time.
#6 - My house
It may not be the biggest or most fancy house. But, I'm thankful to own a home. It's the first home my husband and I bought and we've been here 10 years. We've lived here as our family grew from just two people to a family of six! So many memories have been made in this house. I know the time for us to move is coming soon. I'll be sad once we do move.
#5 - Coffee
Ha yes, coffee ranks pretty high. I love coffee. I can't start my day without it. It doesn't have to be fancy. I just need that jolt of caffeine to get me going. A nice, hot cup of coffee can be so good. It even relaxes me in the evening. A day without coffee usually turns out be a pretty miserable day.
#4 - My parents
I love my parent so much! They would do anything for me. They're always there when I need them and I love that they only live about 25 minutes away from me. I can call on them to help out whenever I need them. My kids adore them and my parents are so great with them.
#3 - My sisters
I have two younger sisters and I love them to bits! They're always there when I need someone to talk to. We shop together. We get pedis together. We talk about boy problems. We talk about work problems. I could not get through life without these girls!
#2 - My kids
When I was younger, there was a time when I never wanted to get pregnant and have kids. I just thought it would be too weird. But, now I have four beautiful kids and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I have two boys and two girls, with each about 2 1/2-3 years apart. They make life fun. We sing and dance together. We bake and cook together. I just love seeing how they're mini versions of my husband and me. I'll see a personality trait as something my husband would do. Or I'll see them smile and realize they smile just like I do.
#1 - My husband
We met over 15 years ago while we were in college. He was in grad school and I was in undergrad. I thought he was cute and he thought I was cute. And now here we are. We've been married 11 years and have 4 beautiful kids. He takes care of me and would do anything for me. I'm so thankful to have him in my life!
