Review: Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno - Disney's BoardWalk

Sunday, January 13, 2019

We usually like to try a new dining experience every time we visit Walt Disney World. On our last family trip to Disney World, we had the chance to try the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast at the Trattoria al Forno on Disney's BoardWalk.

This is a Character Dining experience and is only available for breakfast. You can meet Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Ariel, and Prince Eric. The characters will sign autographs and pose for photographs. There is no Photopass photographer, so make sure to have your camera or phones ready.

We didn't originally plan to eat there. But after a mix up at Cinderella's Royal Table, we ended up with some extra Table Service credits on our dining plan. After looking through what dining reservations were available the morning that we were checking out, we decided on the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast. It's one of the newer dining experiences available at Walt Disney World and I had been wanting to visit Disney's Boardwalk.

We were one of the first reservations of the morning and were seated pretty quickly after checking in. The wait staff clapped for us as we walked to our table. That was nice. After taking our drink orders, they brought out some pastries for us to share. It came in a frying pan!

In addition to the pastries, we also had a choice of starter -- either a fruit salad or a berry, yogurt and granola parfait. We all got a small fruit salad. Because we were on the dining plan, our meal could also include an alcoholic beverage. So, in addition to coffee and juice, I ordered a Mimosa!

For our main meal, we had a choice of one entrée. To see the current menu, click here. I ordered the King Triton's Shipwreck al Forno - Calzone with scrambled eggs, bell peppers, salumi, bacon, sausage, blend of cheeses and Sunday Gravy. It was good. I wish there was less bread and more filling. By the end, I was just eating the filling and leaving the bread.

My husband ordered the Tangled Eggs - Fresh Mozarella, Tomato-Basil Eggs, Sunday Gravy, and Breakfast Potatoes with Bacon or Sausage. His food looked better than mine and he ate off of his.

My oldest daughter ordered the Tower of Pancakes - Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes and Seasonal Fruit Compote with Bacon or Sausage. The pancakes were really fluffy. She liked them but felt the pancakes on the bottom were too saturated with the strawberry compote.

My youngest daughter ordered the Flounder's Flapjacks from the Kids Menu. It included 2 fluffy buttermilk pancakes with bacon or sausage and fresh fruit.

Characters

The first character to come by the table was Flynn Rider. He was distraught over a drawing of him not looking like him.

My husband asked him what he had his in his satchel and he pulled out Rapunzel's crown! Flynn tried his best to interact with my kids, but they're usually shy with characters. We did get pictures with him, though.

Rapunzel then joined Flynn Rider for a bit before he headed to the next table.

Next, Prince Eric came by. None of the kids wanted to take a picture with him, so I did!

Then, all of the characters invited all the kids to come and parade around the restaurant with them. My kids didn't really want to, but it was fun to watch. When it was over, Ariel made her way over to the table.

Overall, we had a great time at the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast! We would definitely return! Plus, I'd love to try Trattoria al Forno for dinner!
