As I'm getting closer to that big 4-0 (just in two years!), I'm definitely seeing more changes in my skin. It's not as bright and smooth as it used to be. The skin tone has gotten uneven, I'm seeing my pores more, and I'm seeing lines where even just a few years ago, there weren't any! I've been paying more attention to my skincare routine and being more selective about what products I use.

This was not my first time trying something from Paula's Choice. I had previously tried a Vitamin C serum and I liked the results, so I was curious to see how well the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid worked. The formula contains salicylic acid, which I normally associate with acne and pimple treatments.

Skin is constantly turning over. Newer cells are formed in the lower layers of skin and are pushed up to replace the dead skin on the top layer. As we age, that cell turnover slows down. This leads to uneven skin tone and dry, flaky patches that can clog pores and lead to blemishes. Exfoliating helps to remove the dead skin on the top layer and to help reveal the younger skin underneath. It also helps to smooth and brighten the skin.




Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid was easy to use. After washing and toning my face in the morning, I used a cotton ball to apply it on my face. Unlike other salicylic acid acne products, this did not dry my face out. In fact, it left it feeling kind of sticky if I let it dry after applying it. To avoid that feeling, I normally followed with a moisturizer that contained SPF. (EDIT: I later read on the Paula's Choice website, that if it does feel sticky or greasy, you're using too much!)


After using the product for about a month, I've definitely noticed that my skin looks brighter and smoother. It hasn't felt dry and I haven't seen any flaking. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm planning on buying more once I run out.
