GEVALIA Kaffe Cafe-Style Beverages Review

DISCLOSURE:  I received free boxes of GEVALIA Cafe-Style Beverages from House Party to try and review.

I love hitting the local coffee shop and ordering a nice specialty drink -- my favorite being a Caramel Macchiato.  It's so nice and relaxing to drink.  But, sometimes, you just don't feel like getting dressed, getting in the car and driving all the way over to the coffee shop to get one.

Luckily, you can now brew your favorite specialty drinks at home with GEVALIA's new Cafe-Style Beverages!  They're available in three varieties:
  • Mocha Latte
  • Caramel Macchiato
  • Cappuccino

GEVALIA Cafe-Style Beverages lets you "foam at home," using their easy two-step process and your Keurig brewer.  Each variety includes a froth packet, made from real milk, and a K-cup that contains GEVALIA's rich, never bitter Espresso Roast Coffee.

To prepare, you first empty the contents of the froth packet into your mug.  Then, place your mug under your Keurig brewer and put the K-cup inside.  Adjust the brew size to the "Small Mug" (~ 8 oz) setting and then press "Brew"!  So easy!  Directions say you can sweeten to taste, though I found I didn't need to add any additional sweetener.  I felt if I did, then the drink would end up being too sweet.

You could even get fancy like at the coffeehouse and drizzle some caramel or add some chocolate syrup or sprinkle a little cocoa on top of the drink!  Now, pair it with some biscotti or your favorite pastry (like a yummy scone!) and sit back and enjoy!

My favorite of the three varieties was the Mocha Latte.  It had a rich, chocolate flavor.  It definitely didn't need any additional sweetening.  It tasted pretty much like hot chocolate and I love hot chocolate!  My next favorite would be the Cappuccino.  While I've never had a real Cappuccino, I found this one to be pretty good.  It was very milky and had a lot of foam.  I was hoping the Caramel Macchiato would taste just like my favorite coffeehouse version, but sadly, it wasn't.  It smelled wonderful brewing in the Keurig, but it was lacking that caramel taste that I get when I buy it from the coffee shop.

Would you recommend it?
I can't wholeheartedly say go and buy it now!  While it can be okay if there's absolutely no way I can get out to the coffee shop, it's just not the same.  The Mocha Latte was pretty good and I might buy that one again.  Probably not the other two flavors.

How much does it cost?  A 6-count box retails for $8.49 and a 9-count box retails for $11.99.

Where can I buy it?  You can find it at all major drug stores, mass merchandisers, grocery stores and online retailers.

  1. I got them too and my biggest issue is the price. One packet doesn't make a full cup and they are expensive! I do like the Caramel Macchiato though. :)

    1. It is a little expensive, compared to the regular K cups. But then a Tall Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks is, I think, over $3 and one cup of the GEVALIA ends up being around $1.30-$1.40. Granted, a Tall is 12 oz vs the 8 oz you get from the GEVALIA. They're okay in a pinch, but I'd rather go out and just get the real thing!
