  • 1 Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother lip gloss
  • 1 Neutrogena Beach Defense branded Frisbee

I invited my two sisters, parents and aunt and uncle to come along with us to one of our local beaches.  My one sister had to work the days I was free but the rest were down for a quick beach trip.  We planned on visiting Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.  It was only about an hour away and so it wouldn't involve getting a hotel.

But, the day before we were supposed to go to the beach, my parents and my sister called to cancel because the nausea and vomiting that my Dad had been experiencing for the week prior had not gotten any better.  So, they instead made an appointment to see a doctor.  My sister drove them to see a specialist in DC.  Turns out, he has a growth in his stomach that required further testing.

We postponed the beach trip, hoping my Dad would feel a little better by then.  Plus, maybe the sun and hanging out with his grandkids could help take his mind off his (and our) fears and help my Mom de-stress.  Sadly, my Dad still wasn't feeling well enough to go, so it ended up just being me, my husband and the kids.

The kids were pretty excited to go.  We hadn't been to the beach since the end of May.  The kids were looking forward to playing in the water and the sand.  I, on the other hand, don't particularly love the beach.  I'm the one who covers herself in sunblock and tries to stay under the shade of the beach umbrella.  I don't like getting dark, but I tan quickly.  Luckily, I had some Neutrogena sun products to help out with that!  I brought along the sunscreen, facial moisturizer, shampoo, conditioner and lip gloss.

Sandy Point State Park is located along the Chesapeake Bay.  It's the last exit before the Bay Bridge which takes you to the Eastern Shore and Delaware.  You can see the bridge (and all the slow traffic going to Ocean City) from the beach.

The Bay Bridge
As soon as we got to the beach, even before we set up the umbrella and beach blanket, my oldest two ran to the water.

The other two kids stayed with me and my husband on the beach.

We usually get all the kids covered in sunblock before we get to put any on ourselves.  So once the kids were all done and busy with the sand or water, my husband and I worked on getting ourselves protected from the sun.  It was a hot day with a UV index of 9.  The weathermen on TV said it would only take 20 minutes of being out in the sun without protection to get a sunburn.

The Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Lotion was light and easy to apply.  It smelled great -- not like other sunblock.  It has kind of a sweet smell. I like that it has an SPF of 70.  The stronger the better, in my opinion.  Though, I don't think I did a good job at applying it on my back -- or maybe I just completely skipped an area -- because I did end up with a little burn on my back and shoulder.  My kids and husband, though, were fine.

The Neutrogena Visibly Even Daily Moisturizer was also nice.  It smelled good and I loved that it had SPF 30 built in.  That's the most of any of the facial moisturizers I've been using and I'll definitely be using this one everyday.  I liked that it wasn't greasy and provided moisture and sun protection at the same time.  It's my new favorite!

My daughter really liked the Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother.  We were sent the lip gloss in Glimmer.  It was a nice neutral shade.  My daughter loves the scent.  It's kind of fruity.  It leaves my lips kind of tingly and shiny.  It isn't too sticky and keeps my lips hydrated.  My daughter has already claimed it for herself, so I'm planning on buying another one for myself.  Maybe in a different shade.

One of the reasons we chose to go to Sandy Point State Park rather than driving another 2-3 hours to Ocean City was that the park has bathroom facilities.  So, we were able to shower and chance once we were done at the beach.  My daughter and I liked the Neutrogena Triple Repair Shampoo and Conditioner.  They smelled good.  The shampoo lathers well and rinses clean.  The conditioner left my hair feeling soft and I got nice, beachy waves when my hair air dried.

We had a great time at the beach.  We probably could've stayed longer, but the baby was getting tired and needed a nap.  My parents were sad they missed out on the trip.  But, my Dad has a biopsy scheduled for next week.  Hoping and praying for good news!
