Rosy VoxBox from Influenster - REVIEW #RosyVoxBox

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

DISCLOSURE: I received free products from Influenster to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

I recently received a box of goodies from Influenster. It's been about a year since I was sent a VoxBox, so I was pretty excited to see what I got!

I've received some VoxBoxes in the past that contained a few things that I liked and could use, but there was always one or two items in the box that I just really had no use for. The Rosy VoxBox was different. I could actually use EVERY item that came in the box!

Currituck Beach Lighthouse - Corolla, NC - Outer Banks

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

I finally got around to finishing a photo book that I had started last year of our trip to Corolla in the Outer Banks, NC. Looking through all the pictures, I was reminded that I never got around to finish blogging about all the places we visited while we were down there. I did do a little write-up about the Wright Brothers Memorial last year and about the North Carolina Aquarium a couple years ago, though it's changed somewhat since then.

We've been visiting the Outer Banks with my husband's family every year since 2008. But, last summer was the first time we visited with my side of the family. We rented a house in Corolla, which is located in the northern part of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. While we were there, we had a chance to climb the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

I am not a good cook. At all. My husband does the majority of the cooking in our house. He works Monday through Thursdays and so on those days, it's up to me to figure out what my preschooler and I are eating for lunch.

Sometimes, we'll have leftovers from the previous night's dinner. Sometimes, we eat sandwiches. And hey, sometimes, we go to Chick-Fil-A and eat lunch there! But, now, thanks to Moms Meet, I have a new alternative for lunch!

Introducing, Luvo Frozen Meals! They're quick and easy meals to make that adds variety to my usual lunchtime options. Luvo Frozen Meals combine veggies, protein and whole grains to provide healthy, nutritious meals that also taste good. They contain
  • No high-fructose corn syrup

Crochet: Very Hungry Caterpillar Cocoon and Hat

Saturday, March 11, 2017

As winter dies down, I had been looking for other new things to crochet. The other day, I was scrolling through my Pinterest feed and came across a Very Hungry Caterpillar hat and cocoon set. I thought it was so cute! I'm done having babies, but one of my co-workers is expecting a baby this June. I thought it would be the perfect gift! So, I pinned several different patterns and set out to the craft store to find some yarn.

Ideally, I wanted a yarn that had a lot of different colors. As you can see on the book cover above, the caterpillar's body has varying shades of blue and green. I had one yarn in mind that I had worked with before. My one son had gifted me two skeins of Loops & Threads Facets yarn in Capri Blue. It had shades of blue and green and yellow. But, sadly, it's only seasonal and wasn't available.

Though, when I went out to buy yarn, I wasn't even thinking that it wouldn't be available at Michael's. I just knew Michael's wasn't having a sale that week and A.C. Moore was. So, that's where I went. I probably spent 15 minutes in the yarn section, looking for a yarn that would have the same colors. After almost giving up, I spotted a skein of Premier Yarns Puzzle in Cryptic. It's a self-striping yarn with blues and greens. Plus, it's a bulky weight yarn, so I thought it would work up quickly.

National Geographic Kids Books - REVIEW

March is National Reading Month. Last week we celebrated Dr. Seuss Week and Read Across America Day. My husband even went in to read "Ten Apples Up On Top" to my preschooler's class and he wore the Dr. Seuss hat I crocheted for him.

In addition to Dr. Seuss books, another series of books that my kids love reading and having read to them are the National Geographic Kids Readers books. They're a series of non-fiction books that contain fun facts, great pictures and little jokes and puns that make learning fun.
