I love cheese! I especially love gooey melty cheese in pasta and on pizza! But, when I eat too much cheese, it doesn't sit well with my stomach. I get gassy and it's just not pretty.

I recently had the chance to sample Go Veggie! Lactose Free Slices with my friends and family. I've never tried anything other than real dairy cheese, so I was intrigued.

Go Veggie! is a line of cheese alternatives. They are lactose and gluten free. They also offer products that are dairy and soy free. Their products are plant-based and made from rice, soybeans, coconut and potatoes. They have no cholesterol and contain more calcium and less saturated fat than traditional cheeses.

Go Veggie! Lactose Free Slices are available in variety of flavors, including Cheddar, Mozzarella, Pepper Jack, American, Swiss and Provolone.  I chose to try the Mozzarella and Pepper Jack for my sampling.

We celebrated my daughter's 2nd birthday this past weekend and I decided to put out some grilled cheese sandwiches, using the Go Veggie! Lactose Free Slices.


My husband and I paired Tomato and Basil with the Mozzarella and Bacon with the Pepper Jack. We used potato bread and put spreadable butter on it before adding the cheese and other toppings. We used two and a half slices per sandwich.

 Before the party, I set out fliers about Go Veggie! products and coupons for guests to take home.


Some guests were more willing than others to try the sandwiches.



But, once everyone tried it, they liked it. It didn't taste any different than regular dairy cheese. My one daughter did think the Pepper Jack was too spicy. But, no one else had any complaints. In fact, my brother even took the last sandwich home with him! We probably should have made more!
