Secret Outlast Clear Gel Review

Friday, June 7, 2013

DISCLOSURE:  I received a free Secret Outlast Clear Gel antiperspirant/deodorant from Influenster.com to try and review.  All opinions are my own.

I'm not really loyal to one brand of deodorant.  For some reason, one deodorant may work well for a little bit and then one day, it just stops working for me and I have to switch over to a different brand.  So, I've tried many different brands.  But, I haven't tried Secret Outlast Clear Gel!

Normally, I buy invisible solid deodorants.  They go on smoothly and normally don't leave many white marks on my clothes or underarms.  They also dry quickly after applying.  I haven't had success with gel deodorants in the past.  They don't always dispense evenly and don't normally go on clear.  But, I was definitely willing to give this deodorant a try.

Secret Outlast Clear Gel is supposed to go on clear and stay clear, avoiding white marks on your clothing.  Have you ever put on deodorant and then struggled to get your clothes on without getting deodorant on them?  See Jenni Pulos (from "Flipping Out" on Bravo) and her "Deo Dance" as she tries to get dressed after putting on deodorant!

The deodorant is also said to provide 48 hours of odor protection and is available in four scents: Completely Clean, Protecting Powder, Sport Fresh and Unscented.  Secret Outlast is also available in an invisible solid and smooth solid.

I liked the fact that this gel deodorant was clear.  I think all the other gel ones I've tried were white but then dried clear.  It was nice to know this was going to go on clear and dry clear.  It also had a lot more holes at the top for the gel to come out of.  Other deodorants I've tried only had a few openings, so I felt coverage was an issue.

The deodorant dispensed pretty evenly from the holes.  It did feel more wet going on than my normal invisible solid and took a few seconds to dry.  I was sent the Completely Clean scent.  I usually go for either an unscented or sweeter scent.  The Completely Clean wasn't totally offensive, but wasn't my favorite scent either.  I definitely found that it kept my underarms dry.  Even after blow drying my hair for 30 minutes!  Usually, I'm all hot and sweaty after that.  But, this kept me nice and dry.  I also didn't experience any odors.  But, I can't say it provided me with 48 hours of protection.  Definitely a day's worth, though.  This was fine, since I normally shower everyday anyway.

Would you recommend it? Yes.  The deodorant works well at providing odor and wetness protection, though maybe not for the 48 hours it advertises.  It comes in four scents, so there should be something that suits everyone's preference.

How much does it cost?  Secret Outlast Clear Gel is available in a 1.7-oz and 2.7-oz size. It costs about $4-$6, depending on the size.

Where can I buy it?  You can find it at all major drug stores, mass merchandisers, grocery stores and online retailers.
