Hasbro Game Night Simon Swipe Challenge House Party

Saturday, July 5, 2014

DISCLOSURE:  I received free product from House Party in exchange for hosting a party.  All opinions are my own.

My kids love the Fourth of July!  The day is usually packed with yummy food and fun activities.  This year was no exception.  We were lucky enough to be picked to host a Hasbro Game Night Simon Swipe Challenge House Party!  We were sent an awesome party kit that included:
  • 1 Simon Swipe game
  • 1 Electronic Catch Phrase Decades game
  • 1 Bop It! Beats game
  • 1 pack of Duracell Quantum AAA batteries
  • 1 pack of Quaker Chewy Granola Bars Chocolate Chip
  • 10 coupons for $8 off the purchase of select Hasbro games and Duracell Quantum batteries

None of us had ever played these games before.  My husband had played the original Simon game when he was a kid.  I had always wanted to but I never had the opportunity.  I've heard of the Bop It! games, but never played it.  We do have a different version of Electronic Catch Phrase that I had actually gotten from a previous Hasbro Game Night party.  My kids were excited to play these games and started playing them before I even got them out of the box!

Because the 4th of July tends to be a busy day for everyone, sadly, none of our friends or family were free to come over that day.  So, we ended up hosting our party the previous weekend.  We combined our party with our annual crab feast where we buy a whole bushel of steamed blue crab for everyone to enjoy.

We also had a whole table of food that we made or people brought with them.  We had corn, potato salad, pasta salad, watermelon, hot dogs, brats, fried plantains, spinach dip, confetti salad, cookies and cupcakes.

I frosted the cupcakes in the same colors as the lights on the Simon Swipe game.

I used my Big Top cupcake stand to display the cupcakes.
Before everyone got too dirty eating crabs, we took a group picture.  Though, several guests came later and didn't get to be in the group shot.  My seven year old took the group picture.  I think he did a pretty good job using my big digital camera.

Then, it was time to eat!

I put out the Simon Swipe, Bop It! Beats and Electronic Catch Phrase Decades for people to play with at their leisure.

Only a few people ending up trying Simon Swipe.  They were kind of confused by all the colors and lights and sounds!  Though, here's a picture of my father-in-law playing and he seems to be enjoying it!

The game that was the biggest hit ended up being Bop It! Beats.  Everyone loved how it played music and it was pretty intuitive to play.  My oldest daughter LOVED it and played it throughout the party.  She even achieved a high score of 105 on the Classic mode.  Everyone else spent the rest of the party trying to beat her score!  (UPDATE 7/7/14: She got a better high score: 263!)

We had a great time playing with the new Hasbro games and a few guests expressed interest in buying the games the next time they were out shopping.  Thanks to House Party and Hasbro for the awesome games!

Simon Swipe, Bop It! Beats and Electronic Catch Phrase Decades are available now for purchase at your local store or favorite online retailer.   They retail for $19.99.
