Spiderweb Brownies with Chocolate Pretzel Spiders #HalloweenFLIPZ

DISCLOSURE: I received a free package of Flipz from Smiley360 to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Halloween is 5 days away. We've finally figured out what the kids are going to be. We've put up our Halloween decorations. Now, it's time to make some fun Halloween treats!

I've actually made these Spiderweb Brownies before, when I hosted a Hotel Transylvania Monster Valentine's Day party. This year, I thought it would be cute to add little chocolate spiders on the brownies.

I modified a recipe from the King Arthur Flour website. I opted to use a boxed brownie mix, but feel free to use either the King Arthur Flour brownie recipe or your own favorite brownie recipe.

My spiderweb didn't turn out as nice as I would like. It wasn't as easy to pipe the cream cheese filling into neat circles on top of the brownie batter. And dragging the butter knife through gave it more of a marbling effect, than a spider web.

I love my little chocolate spiders, though! They're so cute! They look scared! Like, oh no, don't eat me!

The spiders were pretty easy to make. I used Flipz Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels for the body of the spider. I melted Dark Cocoa Candy Melts and using a disposable piping bag, I made the spider legs and stuck candy eyes to the pretzels.

Overall, it's a fun and easy treat for Halloween! And pretty yummy, too!

Spiderweb Brownies with Chocolate Pretzel Spiders
Makes one 13"x9" pan or two 8" round pans of brownies
(Adapted from King Arthur Flour)

Ingredients
Fudge brownies (use King Arthur Flour Fudge Brownies recipe or your favorite brownie recipe or box mix - 13x9 size)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 large egg yolk
1/2 tsp mint flavoring (optional - I didn't use it)
Dark cocoa candy melts
Flipz chocolate covered pretzels  (I used milk chocolate)
Candy eyes

Directions
1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.  Grease 13"x9" or two 8" round pans.
3.  Prepare brownie mix and spread batter in greased pan(s).
4.  Combine cream cheese, sugar, and flour in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
5.  Add egg yolk and flavoring (if desired), mixing until smooth.
6.  Transfer mixture to a disposable piping bag and cut the very tip off the end.
7.  Place a small pool of the mixture in the center of the brownie batter.
8.  Draw circles around the pool, about 1 inch apart, moving out from the center each time.
9.  Once the circles are drawn, take a table knife, wet the tip, and draw it back and forth through the circles.
10.  Once you've gone all the way around the circles, use the remaining filling to trace the path where the knife traveled, to create the spokes of the web.
11.  Bake the brownies for about 30 minutes, or until the brownies just barely pull away from the edge of the pan.
12.  While brownies are cooling, melt candy melts.
13.  Spoon melted chocolate into a disposable piping bag.
14.  Place several Flipz chocolate covered pretzels on a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
15.  Snip off the tip of the piping bag and pipe spider's legs.
16.  Using the chocolate, fill the top two holes of the pretzels and place a candy eye on top.
17.  Place pretzels in freezer or refrigerator to harden.
18.  Place spiders on cooled brownies.
